Week 6 Marathon Training

Well, I'm still working on my marathon training, but have had a bit of struggle getting my motivation up to get my long run miles in. Last week I was scheduled to run 10 miles, but only got 5 in because I procrastinated on going and ended up running out of daylight (plus it was freakin' cold). Yesterday wasn't quite as bad-- I was supposed to run 7 miles and ended up doing about 4.5-5miles, but with some serious hills thrown in. It was fun though-- I got to meet Trisaratops, who was in town for work, and we ran together at the local park. There should be some audio from our run included in the next In Transit episode.

I've been good about getting my weekday distances in, but just need to do the long runs. So important! Next Saturday I'm slated for 12 miles and am bound and determined to get each and every one of those miles in. I will just put the past behind me where it belongs and move forward from here. Sticking to the plan!

Oh, and I just registered for Charlottesville Marathon-- it's official now. I'm in!

Sweet park across the street

Here are a few pics of the view from the summit of the park across the street from my apartment. It is 1.8 miles up to it--- great hill training for both running and cycling. I've been up there quite a few times since moving here. You can see the Long Island Sound from up here-- although it's difficult to see in these pics. Hopefully I'll get some better pics in the future. I had great 9 mile run yesterday, with the summit tied in. Killer time!

Running in circles...

is what I've been doing. Marathon training is coming along slowly, but surely. I've been running on an indoor track during the weeknights and on the trails at a local park on the weekends. Cross-training on Sundays with a bike ride as well. Connecticut is good, although I'm not familiar enough with the area to run outside when it's dark-- so I'm stuck with the indoor track and/or treadmills until it starts staying light out longer. Oh the wintertime. And there's not even any snow here! Actually, I shouldn't complain. The weather here has been really nice-- ranging mostly in the 40s to low 50s. Pretty crazy for a northeast December/January, if you ask me. We'll see what the rest of the month and also February bring. Nothing else is really new. I might start using fitday.com again to track my caloric intake. Hmm.
